Video production tools used by NBS Studio
Within the video production process we use the latest equipment to produce videos which best suite the clients budget. We can film using either DVCAM through to XDCAM HD or HDCAM, and even the latest digital video formats filmed at 4K resolution using the RED One digital cinema camera. You name it we use it. As I originated from a cgi graphics background, image quality is very important to me. Any flaws from video noise or poor contrast levels are not considered as satisfactory at NBS Studio. We demand only the best video output, with flawless results. That's why we prefer to use the high-end digital cameras and new formats just becoming available.
Video production editing software
At NBS Studio we use the latest Adobe Production Creative Suite which includes; Premiere Pro, After Effects, Encore, Soundbooth... Premiere Pro now uses the Mercury Playback Engine for accelerated playback and encoding of video with effects (up to 4K film resolution, 4x larger than HD) using CUDA core technology.

Filming, Post-production Editing & Finishing, to the final Delivery of your video production is completed either as a website video, DVD, Blu-Ray, or for TV Distribution & Broadcast. NBS Studio edits in 10bit or 12bit video colour space ensuring video is produced at the highest possible standards. All video levels and sound is checked against BBC video specifications.
Video Production and its future
Coming soon for video production is low cost feature film quality video filming using the latest digital cinema cameras available from RED Digital Cinema. We can already film using the RED One, but we are soon to purchase a RED Scarlet 3K, once available. Stay tuned to the NBS Studio website for a video demo reel of the RED Scarlet. Prices for filming 3K will be £350 per day with full kit: RED Scarlet 3K, Tripod, Wireless Lapel mic, PAG light, SSD storage module, 3 Red-head lighting kit.
Tapeless video production workflow
Our move towards a tapeless video production workflow means that footage captured does not go through any further compression while editing the video. With the ability to work with video production files up to 4K film resolution, NBS Studio is fully capable of editing anything from Standard Definition, High Definition to 4K.
Calling the end to pro-consumer and semi-professional video
NBS Studio intends to move away from semi-professional formats such as DVCAM and HDV. Did you realise that semi-professional cameras like HDV have an image censor one-quarter the size of professional HD video production cameras?
We plan to take up the latest formats from RED DIGITAL CINEMA, called REDCODE. REDCODE is a video compression codec intended for use in feature film production. With data rates ten times greater than broadcast formats such as XDCAM-HD or DVCPRO-HD, REDCODE is considered as a high-end video production codec. With greater data-rates, come higher image quality. NBS Studio intends to make videos with the attention to detail as you would expect in still photography.
